Pregnancy – Week 16 Update

Today I am officially four months pregnant! Over the weekend we made the news public (which I was actually really wary about doing, but decided to do it anyway in the end), so now I feel like I can really talk freely about anything and everything pregnancy related. Which is really all that is on my mind lately, so that works out!

Although this is probably something that most people just like, knew, I just realized that these “food for size comparisons” are just based on the length of the baby. I was so confused as to how our baby could be the size of an orange last week and then shrink down to an avocado this week? LOL. But I get it now. No worries. Anyway, our baby is as long as  an avocado this week. 😉

Progress Photos

I know I’ve been kind of on the edge about, “Am I really showing?” for the last few weeks, but now I can say that I for sure am. Even when I lay down now I can see my little belly, whereas it would kind of disappear when I laid down before. It is such a weird feeling to be like, encouraging my belly to grow, because that’s basically what I’ve been trying to avoid for my whole life haha. But I know it’s a sign our little guy is growing, so I’m not mad about it one bit.

Feeling

I am feeling great this week! The main thing that is going on is that I am having some trouble breathing in all the way. It feels like I am constantly trying to catch my breath, which I guess is very common during pregnancy.

I have also been feeling way more like “body tired.” Not “sleepy tired.” My workouts exhaust me and once I lay down on the couch I basically want to stay there for the rest of the day.

I did go get a facial last week, which seems to have helped my skin out a ton so far. I wish I could go get one every week…then I would probably have no acne issues at all!

Oh, and I am starving lately, but I get full super fast. So I eat, don’t finish my meal because I am stuffed, and then am hungry again 20 minutes later. I basically don’t stop eating anymore.

Eating/Drinking

Like I said above, I am hungry beyond belief lately. My favorite foods/drinks right now are:

  1. Coconut La Croix – I got the biggest craving for this last week and am already on my second package of them from the grocery store

  2. Strawberries still

  3. English muffins with peanut butter and banana slices

  4. Pizza – I could eat this for every meal and be content I think

  5. Popcorn

I obviously eat other things, but if I had my way I would live on the above items for now. I will say that I have been doing much better with getting back to some of my healthier dinner options that I actually take the time to cook, which feels great to fuel my body with all those nutrients. Last night for dinner Chris and I made a lemon/caper cod recipe, cauliflower “mashed potatoes,” and roasted thyme carrots, and I am proud to say I ate all of it! And then had an ice cream sandwich….

Products Used

I got the Bellaband from Target this week. I actually haven’t used it yet, but I am really excited to. Maybe tonight when I go to the wine bar with my girlfriends and sit there sadly drinking my “alcohol-removed” wine? It is designed for a lot of different things, but I am most interested to wear it with jeans. Apparently you just wear it over the top of your jeans and don’t button them, so the band keeps your pants up and you don’t have to go buy all new maternity pants! It has a sticky kind of strip thing at the top so it will stay on your belly, and I will be sure to check back in with how well (or not) it works. I got the white color in the small/medium size.

Fitness Routine

No change here – still trucking along with my normal routine.

Other

We did a little pregnancy announcement photo shoot over the weekend with my friend Hannah as our photographer! She always takes such great pictures of and for her own family, so I knew she would do a great job and be way more creative than we could ever be. Like I mentioned above, I was going back and forth on if I even wanted to announce my pregnancy on the internet at first. I’m not exactly sure why I felt that way, but I think I was just really enjoying having our little secret just between us, our families, and our closest friends. Eventually I decided that I really wanted to write about and document this journey, so here we are.

Anyway, Hannah did such a wonderful job capturing just how excited we are for this baby, and I am so happy that we decided to have her come over and help us out with this. I know that we will love being able to look back on these pictures. Here are a few of our favorites. 🙂

Not too much else is going on right now! For the time being, I did decide to keep working with the same doctor I have been seeing. I still may change my mind and work with a midwife, but for now I feel so comfortable with her and feel like I have some more questions/things I want to go over with her before or if I switch. Just as a little background information, my doctor’s office offers the chance to work with a midwife and get a little more one-on-one attention if you wish to. So if anyone has any advice on this, I would love to hear it! In the end, I suppose it doesn’t really matter since it’s totally random who will be on call to actually deliver the baby, but I just feel like if I feel really comfortable with someone for my prenatal care, why wouldn’t I stick with them? But I could know nothing – I’ve obviously never done this before. 😉
