A Happiness Jar – Week 19

Writer's picture: AdminAdmin

Happy Friday! I am so looking forward to this weekend – a couple of big plans thrown in, but complete free time other than that. Just the way I like it. Overall, this has been a really good week. A couple of things happened to mix it up and make it fly by, which I am super grateful for.

So the five things that made me happiest this week are…..

1. My boss bringing his new puppy to the office all day on Monday

Oh my. It’s safe to say when I saw my boss get to the office on Friday I just said hi and barely looked up from my computer, but when I saw he had a little puppy at his feet, I slammed my computer shut and immediately got down on the floor to play with it. It’s also safe to say that I barely got any work done on Monday, but oh well. This puppy is SO CUTE you guys. It’s a baby, baby German Shepherd and has the sweetest little personality. I am just obsessed with her.

This really didn’t help the fact that Chris and I have been talking adopting a dog lately….. I think we both know that it’s not something we can seriously consider until after our honeymoon – we just have so much going on and so many trips planned up until then. Also, when my girlfriends came over to watch The Bachelorette on Monday night, one of them showed me the two boxer puppies her friend is fostering that she needs to find homes for. I am so tempted!

2. Cooking delicious fajitas with Chris for dinner on Monday

In an attempt to try to be a bit more adventurous with dinners so we don’t get bored, we decided to make fajitas this week. We had never made them and assumed it can’t be too hard or different from tacos. We found a couple simple recipe tips online and made spicy chicken fajitas with sauteéd peppers and onions. They turned out phenomenal! They were so easy and quick to make and left us with enough leftovers for a day of lunch later in the week. Will definitely be making these again soon.

3. Getting in two good, morning workouts

One of my goals for this week was to get in at least two morning workouts, and I did! Typically it is very hard for me to get out of bed in the morning. They say that 7-8 hours is the recommended amount of sleep an adult needs, but I would be much happier if I got 10 hours each night. I just love to sleep. But I am also trying to remind myself that I love the endorphins I get from exercising first thing in the morning and I love the feeling I get even more that I am done with my workout for the day and can just do whatever I want after work and not have to worry about it.

So two times this week I dragged myself out of bed around 6:30am and got in good, sweaty, 45 minute-ish workouts. And I will tell you, I had way more energy during the work day than usual and was in a better mood, too. I also enjoyed my evening more, because I wasn’t spending 15 minutes driving to the gym, 60 minutes in the gym, 15 minutes driving home, and another 20 or so minutes showering. That’s almost an extra two hours I had each of those evenings! Sure, we really just spent that time finishing House of Cards, but it’s the thought that counts?

4. Receiving all of our engagement pictures back!

Oh my GOODNESS. So I follow our photographer on Instagram and saw a post she did on one of Chris and I’s engagement pictures that I had yet to see which I thought was awesome, but did not think for one second that we would be getting our pictures back so soon because originally she said it would take 6-8 weeks and as of yesterday, it was only 4 weeks. But sure enough, about 5 minutes after I saw the post I got the email from her saying that our photos were ready for download!

I was so, so excited to open up the link and could not stop smiling as I scrolled through them. Our photographer is just so talented, and I am so grateful for her. I’m not ready to share all the pictures yet and I’ll do a whole post on them soon, but here’s one of my absolute favorites for now 🙂

5. An impromptu date night out on Thursday

As always, I went to my favorite slowburn yoga class on Thursday night. Afterwards, Chris and I were undecided on what we wanted for dinner, so we totally caved and went to a brewery we love that is basically next door to our gym. Strategically placed if I do say so myself….. We had a great time eating sandwiches, fries, and ordering a few beers. As we were leaving the restaurant, a huge storm came which I LOVE. We took that as an opportunity to go to another super nearby Italian ice spot that we love to get dessert to take home with us. When we got home we watched the last episode of this season of House of Cards. It was a really fun, unplanned night out!

________

Tonight we are heading out to try a new restaurant in our area with some friends that I am really excited about. Tomorrow we have my sister Olivia’s dance recital in the afternoon, and Sunday I am going to the Train concert with my mom, sisters, and a bunch of friends!

Hope you have the best weekend!!

What do you have going on the next couple of days?
