A Happiness Jar – Week 32

Writer's picture: AdminAdmin

Good morning! How was your week? I hope it was wonderful. 🙂 Mine was good, but I am ready for the weekend. I really feel like I need some time to unplug, step away from my phone and computer, and just chill at home with Chris. A lot of good things happened in the past few days, but here are my five favorites:

1. Naps

I am pretty sure that naps are going to be on my Friday favorites list for a very long time to come. This week it seemed like my cats were as tired as me. I woke up from a nap one day to this adorable scene.

2. Barre class/dinner with my girlfriend

I love the barre class I have been going to every Tuesday night, but it is even more fun when I have someone to do it with. One of my best girlfriends came with me this week, and then we went out to dinner after and probably ate back everything we burned off in carbs. But it all balances out. 😉

3. A Valentine’s Day date

Chris and I have grown really accustomed to hanging out at home lately. Now don’t get me wrong, I am a big homebody and love spending most of my time in our house, but it is nice to get dressed in real people clothes and actually go out in public once in a while. We usually aren’t ones for the “typical” Valentine’s Day date, but this year we decided to go that route and make a reservation at a nice Italian restaurant. I was amazed at myself for actually putting a dress and heels on (who am I?!).

The restaurant was obviously packed with couples, but it was actually quite a fun atmosphere to be in. They were playing a bunch of love songs on the stereo system, and I enjoyed being a part of the cheesy holiday for once. Usually we prefer to stay at home in our pajamas with a bottle of wine. 😉 Anyway, we really took advantage of it being a “holiday” and got fun drinks, a bruschetta appetizer, entrées (a pecan roasted chicken dish for me and a steak fettuccine), and a dessert to share. Then we rolled ourselves home, watched a super romantic show about murder, and went to bed by 9:15. My kind of night.

4. Taking a yoga class with Chris

It is so rare that I get Chris to go to yoga with me, but maybe he was keeping up in the Valentine’s Day spirit and actually agreed to go with me on Thursday night. We got there early to get a good spot and had time to walk on the treadmills for a while together before class. I love working out with him and always forget that because we don’t do it often enough!

5. Trying out a new soup recipe

In my attempt to try out at least one new recipe each week, I found this recipe for roasted cauliflower and garlic asiago soup on Pinterest. Once I took a closer look at the recipe, it seemed very familiar to the soup we served at our wedding, which made me even more excited to make it myself. The recipe itself wasn’t too hard to follow and didn’t take as long as I thought it would. I actually prepped it in the morning so it was easy to warm up once we got home from yoga on Thursday night. I also made the optional crunchy topping to go on top, which really added some good texture to the soup. And of course we had to stop and pick up a fresh baguette on the way home to have alongside of it.

__________

We don’t have too much on the agenda this weekend, which feels great. All we really have going on is a brunch with some friends on Saturday morning, working through some more potential house building stuff, and church on Sunday. If it’s up to me, I am happy to spend the rest of our weekend at home, reading on the couch.

Have a great weekend – see you Monday. 🙂

What were some of your favorite things this week?
