Good morning! We had a busy, busy weekend and to be honest, I am completely exhausted today. It was too much social interaction for me and I am left totally exhausted today, but it was certainly fun at the time.
Friday
I came home from work on Friday to a wonderful surprise from our wedding photographer – a little box filled with a sweet note, a flash drive containing all of our engagement pictures, and a bunch of those pictures printed. It made me smile so big. Little gestures like that go a very long way with me, reinforcing even further that we picked the right company to work with for the wedding.
We also received our wedding invitations in the mail! So after work on Friday I spread everything out on the living room table and started stuffing, stamping, and putting them together to get sent out in the mail on Saturday morning. I love how they turned out and am so excited for our friends and family to start receiving them!
Later on in the evening Chris and I headed out to an Italian restaurant we really like called Gaudino’s to meet his whole family for dinner. The atmosphere of this place is just adorable, and the food is pretty darn good, too. We split a margherita pizza and a pasta dish made with vodka sauce, basil, and some other delicious things. Along with that we also had some pinot noir and way too much bread.
Then on the way home from dinner I totally caved and asked Chris to stop at the grocery store to get some Ben & Jerry’s Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. And we ate the entire thing on the couch while watching Desperate Housewives. It was wonderful, but I felt disgusting on Saturday morning.
Saturday
Saturday morning began in my absolutely favorite way – with a hot yoga class. And it was 100% necessary after Friday night’s dinner. It was a really tough class (and I started thinking about quesadillas halfway through…?), but I felt much better leaving than I did walking into class.
The weather was on and off raining all day on Saturday, which we took as the perfect excuse to stay home and watch Desperate Housewives all day – with a little bit of cleaning and organizing worked in there, too. Eventually we got around to getting ready for dinner with our friends at Testa Barra!
After loving it so much last time, we were really excited to go back a second time. I found out that they have prosecco on tap, which was a no-brainer for me. And it was really dry, too – just the way I like it. We started out by splitting a few appetizers – calamari and bread with three different spreads (a garlic butter, a ricotta one, and a beet one). We all got different main meals – scallops, lamb shank, pizza, and bronzini – and every single one was fantastic. This restaurant is a must if you ever happen to be in the metro-Detroit area!
After dinner we all headed back to our condo to play some Rummikub and Scattergories before calling it a night!
Sunday
Sunday started out verrrrrrrrrry slow. I had a terrible dream that caused me to toss and turn all night, so I was not wanting to get out of bed at all. Plus the cats were being extra cute, and I could just sit and watch them for hours to be honest.
Once I finally made it out of bed, Chris made me some coffee and I started making bruschetta for a family picnic we were going to later in the day.
The recipe is crazy easy and absolutely delicious if you like tomatoes. The main time-sucker is chopping up all of the tomatoes. Along with that is some garlic and fresh basil. They you just stir it all together with a little balsamic, salt, and pepper, and you are ready to go! I suppose you could be ambitious and make your own little toasts to go along with it, but we were not looking to be over-achievers and just bought some pre-made ones from a local Italian market.
Once that was made and we got ourselves looking presentable, we left to meet up with Chris’s sister to head to the picnic at a metropark about 30 minutes from our house. It ended up being a beautiful day outside compared to the weather we have had lately which I think we were all overly grateful for. We hung out there for a few hours having some drinks and food and just talking and then headed back to my parents house for the rest of the day.
All we did once we got there was float around in the pool with my parents, have a couple margaritas, eat a delicious dinner my mom made, and play a little more Rummikub while eating dessert. It was lovely, but we were way more than ready for bed by 8:30 so we finally headed home after a very long day.
I was very excited to see an Amazon package on the front porch when we got home! I had ordered some eye cream that I have heard great reviews of, so I decided to give that a try. I’m just waiting for my jade roller to come in the mail so I can apply it properly and hopefully start to get rid of these bags under my eyes that seem to never want to go away.
I had also ordered some potential shoes for the wedding that were a total bust. I think they are really cute, but they truly could not be more uncomfortable. I could barely keep them on my feet long enough for Chris to take a picture of me in them. Oh well – I’ve still got time to find something I love that I will actually be able to walk in.

I’ve got a short, easy week coming up thanks to a special someone’s birthday on Wednesday and an accompanying long-weekend trip starting Thursday morning because of it. I am in desperate need of a weekend away and am so looking forward to it.
